What if you had to buy a gift for a lady near and dear to you and you just couldn’t think of the ideal surprise for her? What if heart jewelry could be the answer?
What if you had been spending a long time trying to come up with an original idea for a present for your significant other for Valentine’s Day (whether she’s your wife or girlfriend) and you are drawing a blank? You’ve already bought her all of the routine gifts that guys buy, such as flowers and chocolates and champagne. You’ve been together for a few years so you’ve also bought her the other stuff that men buy for their ladies – clothes, DVDs and CDs, underwear (nervously because you didn’t want to appear stupid in front of the sales assistants!) and perfume. In fact, you’ve bought each of those more than once, taking into account birthdays and Christmas presents and “just because” gifts. So it’s becoming a little routine and casual. She’s a smart, professional lady running her own business, so she has to look good and elegant and presentable at all times. She has some jewelry that she wears on business occasions but some of is is a little too “over the top” for day to day affairs. Well, how about a white gold heart necklace? It will express your love and affection for her and it will also be a pretty and effective piece that she can co-ordinate with other items in her jewelry box. You can buy other heart jewelry pieces for gift buying occasions in the future.
But what if Christmas was approaching and you just couldn’t think what to buy for your Mom? She’s not only a mom but a Grandma also. She has three children of her own and five grandchildren, so she’s had a lot of presents bought for her over the years. She doesn’t have a very active social life because of her age but she does have all of the clothes she could ever wear – her wardrobe it bulging – so clothes are out. She’s not a great movie or television fan, preferring just a few tried and tested programs such as Frasier that she watches repeatedly, so there’s not too much mileage there. And book-wise, she is quite religiously minded so you’re always worried about buying the modern tomes with lavish amounts of sex scenes in them that you know will offend her. She enjoys reminiscing about her past life and the joys of being with her family. Ok, how about a heart locket? You can add in a photo of her husband or her favorite grandchildren and she can remember them every time she looks in the mirror and sees the locket hanging there.
So what if you then need to find a gift for your daughter’s birthday that’s just around the corner? She’s a typical early teenage years girl. She loves pop music, boys and chatting with her girl friends. She has all of the music and movies that she wants – and in any event, how can you possibly figure out what’s currently in and what’s currently out? The same applies to clothes – whatever Mom and Dad like, she doesn’t. Everything revolves around IPods, text messaging and romance. Maybe you can buy her a sterling silver heart charm bracelet. Include a traditional locked heart charm to symbolize romance. Buy her more charms for subsequent birthdays and gift buying occasions. She can wear it for social outings and casual times with her friends and she will come to treasure it as more charms are added over the years.
Do you have any more “what if” moments like these? Give some thought to heart bracelets, heart brooches and heart necklaces and you may be able to solve some gift buying problems of your own.

Before the Internet became the phenomenon that it is today, the only place to buy jewelry was from one of the chains of jewelry stores found in most Malls and high streets or from one of the independent jewelers sometimes found in small towns. Nowadays it is possible to purchase excellent jewelry items on the Internet from the comfort of your own home. You can discover a wide choice of both designs and sites where you can find your perfect piece whether that is a heart shaped ring, gold heart earrings, bracelets, necklaces or lockets – in fact, all types of heart jewelry as well as other styles.
However, looking in jewelry stores and talking to a knowledgeable salesperson about the qualities of the various precious metals, the range of gemstones that are available and the different settings will help you to make an informed decision. Armed with this information you will know exactly what pieces are best suited to your needs.
If you are looking for a heart ring, the massive choice online can make it a challenging task so it is advisable to have an idea in mind prior to going on the Internet. Deciding on a budget for what you will be prepared to pay along with the kind of setting wanted, be it gold, platinum or sterling silver, will help save a lot of time and confusion. In choosing the website, try to pick a jewelry site which has reviews from previous customers to enable you to be sure of getting just what you want. If they are a reputable site they will usually have money back returns policy so that if you are not satisfied with your selection you can return it.
To express your love for another person with a gift, the perfect option is a heart shaped ring. Although a diamond heart ring may seem the perfect choice you may find that this is far more expensive than you can afford especially if they are set in gold, white gold or platinum. Fortunately, by doing a little research you will find a tremendous selection of heart rings that need not break the bank. Heart shaped rings can be purchased in various precious metals, such as white and yellow gold or sterling silver and may be embellished with genuine or synthetic jewels. Since the options are so diverse, you’re sure to manage to find the perfect ring as a gift for your loved one.
Once a year is the very best occasion every man needs to demonstrate to the one he loves exactly how he really feels. Of course, the day in question is Valentine’s Day. If you would like to show your love in the best way, then give her an item of heart jewelry. Pairing the obvious token of love, the heart, together with the thing that most women treasure – jewelry – will melt the heart of your lady, making her appreciate you for many weeks to come. Roses fade after a few days, however a gift of a gold heart shaped ring or a charm bracelet or a pair of sterling silver heart earrings will be a constant keepsake of your feelings for her.
The Internet has a whole range of jewelry sites where you can find the most amazing pieces from cheap and cheerful to mega expensive. For a truly unique gift of love why not choose a hand made item of sterling silver jewelry featuring heart symbols as an inexpensive alternative to gold and precious gems. Pretty heart shaped rings or vintage signet rings in sterling silver can be bought for an unexpectedly low cost, and if you have a romantic phrase engraved onto it your lady love will know you have thought carefully about the gift. Also Web auctions are a great area to locate superb jewelry offers and to get the heart bracelet, heart ring, heart earrings or pendant your heart hopes for!

When you think of “collecting” as a hobby or pastime your first thoughts are often of subjects such as baseball cards, stamps, coins, porcelain figurines or any of the numerous other items that people choose to collect. One category that doesn’t readily spring to mind though is collecting heart jewelry, especially heart lockets. Yes, most women have a selection of different jewelry (some have far more than others!) but they would hardly see it as a hobby of actively collecting different pieces. After all, jewelry is an accessory used to complement the different outfits in a woman’s closet.
People collect things for various reasons – for some it is purely a hobby and because they like the specific subject while for others they hope that they will discover something rare and valuable related to their collection. Choosing to collect heart lockets can actually fulfill both of these reasons and at the same time provide you with a fashion accessory to wear for any occasion.
The heart locket was popularized during the reign of Queen Victoria and often contained portraits (this was before the age of the photograph) of a departed loved one and/or a lock of their hair. During the American Civil War many of the soldiers gave these to their betrothed or wives as a keepsake to keep them close in spirit while they were apart physically. If you truly want an authentic collection of lockets then you may be lucky enough to find some beautiful and valuable examples at yard sales, flea markets or antique shops. Web auctions are another good place to look for second hand jewelry and you can sometimes find items for a less expensive price than from other sources.
On the other hand you may just decide to collect modern heart jewelry, which is very popular once more and which is suitable for wearing for any event. There are lots of different designs to choose from so you are not limited in style. For instance, why just have one pair of simple heart stud earrings which you wear every day to work? Why not have a selection of styles like a pair of gold chandelier heart earrings or diamond heart earrings for that formal ball? These could be teamed up with a matching heart bracelet, necklace and ring. One of the great advantages of heart jewelry is that you can mix and match pieces from different suppliers and different styles and yet you still have a result that looks effective and beautiful.
Heart jewelry is available in lots of different metals, such as gold, rose gold, white gold, platinum and sterling silver, and most of these can be set with precious and semi-precious gemstones, so this is why it makes a great collectible genre and at the same time it allows you to make a fashion statement. A sterling silver heart locket necklace and silver earrings will add the required amount of chic to your outfit, whether you are meeting friends for lunch or a drink after work or going out to a formal dinner engagement.
Another great thing about collecting heart lockets and other pieces of heart jewelry is that you can get friends and loved ones to help you build up your collection. A heart shaped ring would make an ideal anniversary present and a silver heart bracelet would be great as a gift for your birthday. If you know a girl who has a charm bracelet, buying her an additional heart charm can be a great addition. Even if she already has one heart charm, there are many alternatives that can complement what she already owns.
With the value of gold and silver at an all time high, collecting heart jewelry seems like a good investment and, unlike coins or stamps, you don’t have to put it in an album or special display cabinet to enjoy it. Wearing your heart lockets and other pieces of heart jewelry will give you much more pleasure than just taking them out now and again to look at.

Silver is one of the most popular metals from which to make jewelry and that is true of heart jewelry too. This popularity arises from many different reasons: for example, silver provides a perfect setting for practically any variety of gemstone, thereby making it a great choice for moderately priced heart rings, earrings and pendants featuring either natural or created gems. A variety of birthstones including amethyst, garnet and topaz regularly appear in dazzling silver heart jewelry pieces (added to which, today’s man made and artificially created jewels look so much like the real thing that once set in silver they will look as if they cost an absolute fortune). Furthermore, silver’s natural qualities permit it to be made into an incredible spectrum of designs from a delicate sterling silver heart bracelet to chunky cuffs and linked chains. And the color of sterling silver lends it the look of platinum or white gold at a small fraction of the cost.
However, because pure silver on its own is too soft a metal to be used in jewelry making, it is made into an alloy (usually with copper 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper) to give it strength and enable it to be made into far more intricate designs. One effect of this is that although the copper adds strength to the silver it also means that silver has a tendency to tarnish as it reacts with sulfur in the air causing the silver to look dull and a patina to form on it. For this reason some people are put off buying silver heart jewelry which is a pity, because the silver color is so versatile that it complements any outfit from jeans and a shirt to an elegant ball gown.
Your sterling silver heart bracelet can last a lifetime if you look after it and store it properly. One of the best ways to keep your silver heart jewelry shiny and looking like new is to wear it frequently. The oils in your skin tend to put a coating on the metal making it less prone to tarnish. I have had a silver heart ring for years that I wear every day and it still has its lovely shine.
When using household cleaning chemicals or hair care products (especially those containing ammonia and bleach) it is best to take off your silver jewelry as it will turn black if it comes into contact with some of these products. Even some make up products, soaps and perfumes can react with the silver, taking away its shine. So it is always best to leave putting on your silver heart locket and earrings until you have finished doing your face and hair.
If you cannot wear your silver heart jewelry everyday then you need to store it properly to minimize the amount it tarnishes. Keeping it in an airtight container out of the light will certainly help to stop the sulfur in the atmosphere from getting to it. Wrapping your silver heart bracelet in a tarnish preventative cloth (this will also prevent the metal from getting scratched by other pieces) and putting it in an airtight plastic bag and placing it in drawer is the best way of storing it.
To clean the tarnish off silver jewelry it is best to choose one of the products that you can buy from the jewelers. Silver dips are probably the easiest way to clean all pieces, from earrings, rings and sterling silver heart charm bracelet to chains and brooches, but you need to follow the instructions carefully especially if the pieces have gemstones set into them. Sometimes these cleaning products can have devastating effects on some gems such as pearls and opals so choose one that says it is gentle and suitable for gemstones. If in doubt it is beat to take the item to the jeweler’s to be professionally cleaned.
Following these guidelines will help to keep your sterling silver heart bracelet looking shiny and new and ensure you enjoy wearing it for years to come.

So, you’ve decided that your girlfriend is the love of your life and you want to take the next step by asking her to marry you. Do you ask her first and then both go out and choose an engagement ring? Or do you want to surprise her over a romantic dinner by getting down on one knee and producing a ring which you have selected for her? If you’ve chosen the second route there are a few things to consider before dashing off to the jewelers to look at their selection of heart engagement rings.
First and foremost, has your lady love ever expressed a preference for one shaped ring over another? Although it may seem to be the ultimate in romantic rings, not all women like the idea of a heart shaped engagement ring. Some ladies find the design “cheesy” or “tacky” and would much prefer a more traditional diamond shape in their engagement ring.
The most popular shape of diamond is the round brilliant cut as it best optimizes the fire and the brilliance of the diamond. However, there are at least nine other cuts to consider. A princess cut stone is a favorite shape for engagement rings. It is usually square and has pointed corners. Whereas an emerald cut is oblong with rectangular facets. If you like the emerald cut but would prefer a square shaped diamond then an Asscher-cut diamond is the one you should choose.
Other shapes you may want to consider are oval, marquise, radiant, cushion or pear. One cautionary note, take a note of the shape of your girlfriend’s fingers as this may help to determine which shape would best suit her hand. Certain shapes look better than others depending on finger length and chubbiness. A reputable jeweler will be able to give you information on the differences of all the different cuts and which shape would be best suited for your choice of ring.
Okay, so now you’ve chosen the shape of diamond you want, now you need to think about the color and again you may have a range of choices depending on your budget. By far the most usual color of stone for an engagement ring is the white diamond but if money is no object and you want to be truly romantic you might try to get a pink diamond. This is the rarest diamond in the world and the deeper the color the more the cost. If your wallet won’t stretch that far but you want something different you may want to consider colors such as champagne, pink champagne, blue, yellow or green diamonds.
Nearly there now, all you need to think about now is the setting of the ring and the choice of metal. Look at what jewelry your intended usually wears and that should give you some indication of whether she prefers gold, white gold or platinum. And does she already have any other heart jewelry? You may care to match with that. When it comes to which setting to pick, ask the jeweler to show you different designs to help you make your decision. Also make sure that the store has a returns policy in case it turns out not to be the ring of her dreams.
That’s all there is to it!
Bet you thought that you could just walk into the jewelers and look at the heart engagement rings, then pick one pay for it and wait for the right moment to present it! To save yourself a lot of headaches over the right ring to get it is worth doing a bit of homework. Ask her friends and family if she has said anything specific about the kind of ring she would like and listen carefully for any hints she might drop if the subject comes up. No matter what ring you choose she will love you for it and always treasure it.

If you could only have one piece of heart jewelry which one would you choose? Would you pick a gold heart locket, an open heart pendant or silver heart earrings or one of the many other items of heart jewelry that are available? My choice would be a heart charm.
I would choose a heart charm because it is such a versatile piece of jewelry. If I added it to a chain to wear as a necklace it is suitable to wear every day with work clothes or at weekends with more casual outfits. For more formal events it would complement other pieces of jewelry like earrings, watch and bracelet as well as the little black dress that most women have in their closet. The look could be changed by having different lengths of chains to wear with different necklines.
Another way I would choose to wear it is by adding it to a bracelet to turn it into a charm bracelet. This could be added to with either more heart charms or some of the other beautiful and unusual charms that are available. If I chose to continue with a heart charm theme I may look for different styles of heart shaped charms like an open heart design, one with my birthstone set into it, perhaps a heart locket charm that could contain a picture of my family. Or I might decide to collect all the same sort of heart charms to give it a more uniform look.
Alternatively, a heart shaped “I love New York” charm could be the first one on a charm bracelet that could be added to as a reminder of places and events that are special to me. Because I love to travel, finding charms of the places I visit would be a great reminder of the special memories I have from these vacations. I would have charms of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building in New York, and the Capitol and the White House in Washington DC. Then there would be one of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and a casino in Las Vegas. From trips to Europe I would add Buckingham Palace in London, the Acropolis in Athens and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, the list is endless. All of these and more would bring back the happiness I felt when vacationing in these places.
On the other hand, I might decide to choose to have a Disney heart charm and collect other Disney charms to make a fun charm bracelet. As my favorite books as a child were Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner by A. A. Milne, I would probably start my bracelet with a Winnie the Pooh heart charm and then add charms of all the wonderful characters in the books like Piglet, Tigger, Eyore, Owl and Christopher Robin just to name a few. Of course there are lots of other Disney characters to choose from so you could make a charm bracelet with your favorites.
Then again, a heart charm commemorating a special event in my life could lead to a collection of lots of different charms charting other momentous occasions. Some of the ones I can think of are: reaching the age of majority charm, a graduation charm, a wedding cake charm to celebrate marriage, a baby carriage or baby footprint charm to mark the birth of children, a silver wedding anniversary charm, a Mom charm or Grandma charm. Everybody has different events in their lives and there are any number of charms you can buy to celebrate them.
So you see, if I could only have one piece of heart jewelry I would have to choose a heart charm because there are so many ways you can add to it that will evoke lasting memories. What piece of heart jewelry would you choose and why?

The giving of promise rings has been traced back at least as far as the sixteenth century and they were usually given by young men to their girlfriends as a token that they were committed to their lady love but couldn’t afford to marry her straight away. In other words it was used as a pre-engagement ring. The popularity of heart jewelry meant that often promise rings had heart shapes in their design because this, for centuries, has been a virtually universal symbol of love.
Back in the 1950s in the USA, when teenage girls and boys were “going steady”, quite often to show their friends and other people their relationship was serious the boy would give his girlfriend his class ring to wear on a chain round her neck. In a way this was a kind of promise ring as it was showing that the girl was involved with somebody and was not available for dating other guys. The next stage after the class ring would be the giving of a “promise” ring, especially if it was an open heart ring, to show that the relationship had moved to the next stage – exclusivity. It all seems so formal and such a long time ago now, doesn’t it?
Promise rings are traditionally less expensive than an engagement ring and are still popular today to show your loved one and the world that you are committed to each other but are not quite ready for the next step – marriage. Choosing something like an open heart ring conveys the fact that you have let one very special person into your life. If you want to have matching rings then you should check out the open heart collection by Jane Seymour as they have a style for both men and women at very affordable prices.
A promise ring given as a precursor to the actual engagement ring can be worn on any finger but is most often worn on the ring finger of the left hand. It is usually moved to the right hand ring finger to accommodate either that beautiful diamond engagement ring or a wedding band. But promise rings are not just given as a precursor to “popping the question”. They can also be used to signify other promises. For example:
- Some teens are wearing promise rings or bracelets as a sign of chastity and purity – promising to retain their virginity until they get married.
- Young couples give and wear them to show monogamy – promising to stay faithful to that one person.
- As a friendship ring, especially the Claddagh heart ring, given to a close friend – promising loyalty, friendship and love.
- It can be a symbol of sobriety and abstinence – promising to remain sober or drug free or not gamble.
Although there can be any number of meanings to a promise ring, it is still predominantly given as a pre-engagement ring. If you search on the Internet for promise rings you will find there are numerous outlets selling them in lots of different price ranges and designs. Lots of the designs feature hearts from simple silver heart rings to more elaborate styles with diamonds or other precious stones.
If you truly want to show that your hearts are entwined you might choose a double heart ring and then at a later date complement it with a double heart necklace or some heart shaped earrings. To make the ring even more meaningful to you both you might like to have the band engraved with both your initials or with a special phrase. Whichever open heart ring you choose you can be sure that it will be loved and cherish it for the rest of her life.

Have you ever considered buying second hand jewelry, especially to get a more individual piece than those sold in the modern stores? For a more authentic item of jewelry, such as a sterling silver heart locket either for yourself or as a gift for someone, it is well worth the effort of seeking out retailers who specialize in used jewelry whether in the Mall, Flea Market or on the Internet. If you can find an outlet that carries Victorian jewelry you are sure to find some beautiful, intricate detailed heart lockets as it was during this era that these became very popular.
Classic jewelry is an exceptional investment and a piece of antique heart design jewelry is a superb gift for that special person in your life. Currently, the value of gold is at an all-time high and this has generated a great deal of interest in vintage and antique gold jewelry as it can certainly provide much better value. The price of used gold jewelry is likely to be up to one third less expensive than a similar piece bought new today. Plus an additional benefit is that the quality of a vintage jewelry piece can often be substantially superior to it’s modern day counterpart. However, the same does not always apply to gemstone jewelry: diamond cutting techniques are now a long way superior from what was available a century in the past.
If the thought of buying or wearing jewelry pieces that were once worn by someone else does not appeal to you but you want something that looks like the original, there are a plethora of merchants on the Web that sell replica jewelry designs at affordable prices.
Silver heart jewelry is experiencing new interest for a variety of reasons. Sterling silver’s natural traits allow it to be made into an incredible assortment of designs from the tiniest sterling silver heart earring to heavy bracelets and chains. The color and sheen of silver gives it the appearance of ultra-fashionable platinum or white gold at a small fraction of the cost. Sterling silver makes a superb setting for almost any type of gems, making it an ideal choice for reasonably priced heart rings, pendants and earrings with either precious or semi-precious gemstones. A variety of birthstones such as garnet, topaz and amethyst often feature in beautiful silver heart jewelry pieces. With the manufacturing skills that are available today, synthetic and created jewels look so good that once set in silver they can look as though they cost a fortune.
Diamonds are the most prestigious of gemstones and diamond pendants are second only to diamond heart engagement rings in the popularity stakes. The heart design diamond pendant is definitely an extremely “in vogue” design today. In this style, the diamonds are not themselves heart shaped (as this is a particularly difficult and expensive cut) but the gold, silver or platinum heart pendant is set with a few larger sized or numerous small gems. If price is a problem, you could attain an equally impressive look with a silver heart shaped locket embellished with synthetic gemstones or cubic zirconia.
Sterling silver heart jewelry is suitable for every situation as it’s color flatters every outfit, from the little black dress to shorts and T-shirt, with designs that can be subtle and elegant or bold and daring. Lovely pieces of heart jewelry suit everyone and in addition they do not have to have high price tags. Individual, made by hand pieces of sterling silver jewelry with heart shaped symbols can be an inexpensive alternative to precious metal and precious gems. Attractive heart shaped rings or traditional Claddagh rings in silver can be purchased for an often amazingly inexpensive price, particularly if you are happy to purchase pre-owned items. Internet auction sites are a great place to look for fantastic jewelry buys and you can have the heart bracelet, earrings or pendant of your dreams!

When you want to express your appreciation for someone, words are not always enough to convey how much you value them. Often it is nice to give them a gift to show them how much you care and a gift of jewelry makes the ideal gift for women of all ages. Although heart jewelry is usually associated with love between a man and a woman, it is also ideal to give to others who you care deeply about such as a sister, daughter, Mom, Grandma or special friend.
There is an amazingly varied range of heart jewelry on the market to suit any style and virtually any taste. Whether her style is traditional, contemporary, or maybe just young at heart, there will be a pair of gold heart earrings, a heart locket necklace or gold heart bracelet to precisely fit her style and taste.
Jewelry is particularly suitable to give to members of a wedding party. For instance, a pair of gold heart earrings would be a very loving wedding treasure for the bride if given by her parents to show that although her heart now belongs to another she is still in their heart. A piece of heart jewelry is a thoughtful memento for a bride to give to her bridesmaids to say thank you to them for being such a special part of her wedding. For grown up bridesmaids an open heart pendant or sterling silver heart bracelet would make a lovely present. And for the younger girls, a dainty silver heart locket or a silver heart charm with a fine chain or perhaps worn on a ribbon to complement their gown would fit the bill.
What better way to express your love and appreciation for Mom or Grandma than a gift of heart jewelry? While a diamond heart shaped pendant would be ideal, there are a large selection of heart jewelry items which are far easier on the finances. Heart necklaces can be purchased in various metals, including yellow gold, white gold or silver and can be set with genuine or man-made gems. Since the choice is vast you’re sure to be able to find the perfect heart jewelry gift for those special ladies. To ensure you get something that will complement her other pieces of jewelry take a note of the other jewelry she has in her collection to see which precious metal she usually wears.
The great thing about giving heart jewelry is that you don’t need a special day to give it. It makes a wonderful “just because” or “thank you” gift. If you have been going through a particularly difficult time and, say, your sister or friend have been there for you giving them a gift of jewelry will reinforce how grateful you are for their support. Practically all girls like earrings and heart earrings can easily be bought in silver or gold and can also be set with diamonds if you wish to be extravagant. Obviously you have to take into account the individual personality of the lady who will receive the surprise. Hoops and dangly earrings are great for the extrovert person whereas a pair of delicate stud earrings may be more practical for wearing to work. Take notice of the kind of jewelry she already wears as this can provide an idea of the colors and styles she favors.
A classic gold or silver heart design charm bracelet makes a magnificent gift for a young woman that she’s going to always treasure. Most are sold with many charms actually positioned and this can be a great choice if you’re buying for a girl who wants to keep up with the latest trends. The original locked heart is one “must have” adornment to the old classic form of charm bracelet in which charms are added gradually over a period of time. This particular approach makes it easy to buy further gifts for that girl later on because she would want to collect fresh charms to attach to her bracelet.
Finally, it doesn’t take too much thought to realize that an item of heart design jewelry can make the perfect gift when you want to show someone how much you value and care for them. Even here though the wide selection of items available can be so enormous that you need to give think carefully before deciding exactly what piece of jewelry you should get. While you cannot go wrong if you choose gold heart earrings, there are a limitless amount of other pieces of heart jewelry such as heart charms, heart rings and heart bracelets which will convey the message just as well.

Most little girls from a very early age dream of being a princess like Cinderella or Ariel or Belle, especially if they have watched the Disney movies. They love to dress up as their favorite character either in specially bought dressing up clothes or, as I used to do when I was little, in Mom’s clothes. And of course every princess needs lots of sparkling romantic heart jewelry to wear with her beautiful gown for when she meets her prince at the ball.
If your little princess has been fortunate enough to visit Disney World, or the huge Disney store in Downtown Disney in Florida, then she may have had the opportunity to visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to have her hair, make up and nails done just like a real princess. If money is no object (it could be as much as $200) then you will want to add all the extras such as her favorite princess’s dress, shoes and a photograph to commemorate the event. Then of course she needs a tiara and all the other jewelry to match, such as a necklace, ring, earrings and bracelet. Depending on her age and your budget (if you haven’t overspent already!) the jewelry can be a mixture of cheap and cheerful glass beads with perhaps something more elaborate, like a silver heart charm bracelet, a silver heart locket, or a silver heart ring.
These items of jewelry can be a memento of her magical vacation but they can also be something to wear as she gets older. For example, if you choose to buy a silver heart charm bracelet she can add a new charm from every place that she goes on vacation as a child and as an adult. Charms could include a flip flop charm to remind her of a beach vacation or perhaps a charm of the Tower of London or the Eiffel Tower if she visited Europe. Just imagine what memories it will evoke and what an interesting topic of conversation it will be when people admire it when she wears it as she gets older. Disney pins on a lanyard may be great for when you are wanting to trade them but are hardly the height of elegance, whereas a silver heart charm bracelet can be worn with casual or formal outfits.
Obviously as she grows from a child into an adult she will accumulate a lot more jewelry to add to her collection whether it is fashion jewelry that she has bought for herself or more personal items that other people have bought for her on birthdays and other special days. And while she will not be playing at “dressing up” any more she will still enjoy the feeling of looking like a princess when she dresses in the gown she has chosen for special events such as her junior or senior prom.
But then the “Big Day” arrives and the little girl’s dream turns into reality and she really is a princess walking down the aisle to marry her prince. All eyes are on her as she glides into the room wearing the most beautiful wedding dress and the most sparkling jewelry. This time the jewelry may have been bought for her by her future husband and may consist of a heart shaped engagement ring, gold heart earrings, a gold heart necklace and a gold heart bracelet which he has given her as a token of his undying love. The great thing about heart jewelry is that it can be worn everyday even after the big event. It looks equally good when worn to the office or for a posh night out or even when you are wearing casual clothes such as jeans and sweatshirt.
And why not start a tradition among the other princesses in the family – buy each of them a heart charm bracelet when they are young and let them choose the theme they want to continue on it over time. These items of jewelry will be great to hand down over the generations as they will have such a story to tell.
